Recently, Priyesha Deshmukh who won a gold medal for India was bestowed with The Sanskriti Award for Outstanding Achievements in recognition of enduring commitment and distinguished service in the field of sports.
Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari presented the Sanskriti Award for Outstanding Achievements for 2022 to 8 achievers from various fields at Sanskriti Campus at Bhukum Pune. The awards instituted by the Sanskriti Group of Schools were presented to Chairman of Jehangir Hospital Jehangir HC Jehangir, writer Namita Gokhale, journalists Mandar Phanse and Samrat Phadnis among others. Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar, AVSM,NM,Commandant National Defence Academy, Founder of Sanskriti Group of Schools Devyani Mungali and Co-founder Col. Dr Girija Shankar Mungali were present. MLA Siddharth Shirole Global teacher awardee Ranjitsinh Disale, educationist Kamala Idgunji. Along with all these honorable people Priyesha Deshmukh a Shooting Gold medalist in Deaf Olympics Priyesha Deshmukh.
Priyesha has won 7 Indian National gold medals in handicapped class, 1 Indian National silver medal in open class 1 bronze medal in the 1st World Deaf Shooting Championship 2016 held at Kazan, Russia in her debut.
She was a finalist in the Deaf Olympics 2017 and held the 6th position.
She became finalist in 10 mt air rifle women event and earned Rank 4 in Deaflympics 2021/2022 in Brazil.
She has also bagged Gold medal in the same Deaflympics in 10 meter air rifle in mix event with her fellow shooter Dhanush Shrikanth. She is holding the Indian National record for the highest score in the handicapped category.
